Rumer Godden - found in Power of Simple Living by Ellyn Sanna
This weekend we harvested our first potatoes from the St. Aiden's garden --- and I immediately found my mind racing --- "All of these potatoes - how will we best use them? Should they be a part of the Diamond Diner's lunch? Or the Food Pantry? Or the Open Cathedral Thursday dinner?" The organized Deacon in me was trying to find the "first and best use" of our amazing bounty. And then ---- I realized that I needed to take a pause. The potatoes were so beautiful, and so unexpected in a way, and such a miracle. I thought about how much I needed to simply find the joy in these bits of creation. And so the potatoes came into the church on Sunday, and to the Table. They were there as we celebrated the Eucharist. They were there at coffee hour. And off they went to the Open Cathedral dinner - praise be, and thanks to our creator God.
