i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
Well, some days at work are better than others. When I find myself feeling discouraged or frustrated at work, I visit a tree that I especially like. I'm blessed that this magnificent Oak is located just steps from my office. I always feel better gazing at this beautiful piece of God's creation. A poem by e. e. cummings ("i thank you God for this most amazing day") comes to mind - (this is a part of the poem) - i thank You God for most this amazing day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes

Another garden I'm very fond of is at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. My friend Kris has been lovingly tending this garden for the past few years, and she and her mom were with me as we started the St. Aidan's garden. (Thank you Kris and Roxie....) This is our recent lettuce harvest, which I just delivered to Western Park Apartments, an affordable senior housing complex on Laguna Street. I also re-planted a lemon tree at Western Park (forgot to get a photo, but got some other pics......) Below are photos from St. Mark's and Western Park.....(the black and white dog is my little rescue...Zily Today at noon we planted our first seedlings. Kris Iverson and her mom Roxie Iverson, together with Betsy Eddy, were the planting team. We planted potatoes in one barrel, chard and dahlias and bulbs in two barrels, and parsley and flowers in the fourth barrel (which is in a nearby part of the garden.) There were lots of birds and bright sunshine in the garden.....Thanks to our nice rain this week everything looked beautifully watered and thriving..... It was a lovely start to our new venture! |
