My friend Lisa shared with me this past week the memorial she is tending in her yard for those lost to COVID-19 in San Francisco. She adds red stones for each person who dies, (thus expanding the heart). She also adds flowers when she waters on Sundays. Lisa is one of those people who is practical, caring, and deeply intentional. I so admire her memorial practice and I wanted to share it, particularly after the long hard week we've had with more police violence and much smoke-filled air. I hope Lisa's love for our community brings us all a little hope this weekend.

We had a small but mighty harvest from the Little Red Hen garden today - a mix of lovely colors and late summer bounty. This harvest went to the Free Farm Stand in the mission - with love....
On recent walks, I've noticed so many beautiful planters created by my neighbors. Some are window boxes, some are in pots on porches. Wherever they are, they are really stunning. A few for your Sunday viewing...with gratitude for those folks who bring such lovely bits of nature and color and joy to our city...
