Today was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for weeding the median on Diamond Heights Boulevard! A group of volunteers led by my friend Paul and nourished by my friend Betsy did an amazing amount of weeding in preparation for more median planting work. We'll be looking for other volunteers to join us in further work in our neighborhood. Oh - and check out the sweet little succulent Paul spotted on one of the big rocks in the median. A dear little piece of creation that I'm so glad we got to marvel at.

I have come to realize, after living in California for just over 15 years, that I sometimes take succulents for granted. Succulents live amidst us year-round, they require almost no water, they flower when we least expect it, and they grow cheerfully and without any drama at all. They almost never die. They are, in short, wonderful plants. I was at the Little Red Hen Garden today and noticed a new succulent garden that has been created (thank you to whoever did this!). And so I wanted to share photos......
I came home to the first New Year's days in SF after visiting my family in Cleveland, Ohio over the holidays. On a walk today, I was struck by how very beautiful the rain looks on our sidewalks and plants and city. I took a variety of photos that I thought I would share.....With peace and love and grace for our world in 2017......
