I know I wrote about flowers in my last post, and I can't resist doing it again - there is so much blooming in San Francisco and it all feels so welcomed given the past year we've shared. I came across a quote that sums it all up - it's by Andrew Greeley from his journal and it simply states "Someone keeps sending me flowers." Happy Saturday, all.

Some beautiful Easter colors that speak for themselves on this blessed Sunday....Happy Easter everyone...
My friend Stephanie shared with me photos of the amazing gardens that she and her mom have at their homes.....I think these are totally dreamy....such lovely signs of spring....
Lots of greens and potatoes and herbs are coming up at the Little Red Hen garden. I wanted to share a photo of a recent harvest and of the new potatoes - plus a photo of the brilliant and joyful California poppies that are volunteering in one of our containers. Don't they just shout "Spring!!!"? Happy first day....
I have just a few fun photos to share today - of bright colors in San Francisco at the end of February.....Onward to March tomorrow....
I feel more than a little guilty, posting this photo of beautiful blooming San Francisco in the middle of winter.....given the harsh winter that so many people across the country are facing. Perhaps it will bring a little warmth and light to folks who are facing such cold temps - and hopes for the spring that is to come.
I haven't posted about the St. Mark's garden in a while. It's thriving, and Saturday was a beautiful January day for gardening. We have kale coming along, carrots, potatoes, lettuces, new basil, lemons and apples. I dropped produce off at Western Park Apartments for the seniors there - a group of them used to volunteer at the Free Farm when it was operating and we still keep in touch. Happy MLK day to all.
We had great lettuces and greens for Diamond Diners, our senior lunch program, this week - as well as lemons donated from a friend's tree. Even in winter, and right in the middle of such a challenging and dark week for our country, much bounty and light......
There are so many wonderful holiday decorations around San Francisco....here's a slide show of some of my favorites. Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, and Christmas. Here's to looking forward with joy to 2021...... |
